PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 20, 2024

HUGHES CREATIVES ROLLS OUT "MINDFULNESS JOURNAL FOR ENGINEERING STUDENTS" AT 2024 NSBE CONVENTION, SUPPORTED BY DR. KARI JORDAN’S TESTIMONY

March 20, 2024 – Orlando, FL – The much-anticipated "Mindfulness Journal for Engineering Students" was unveiled by

Orlando-based Hughes Creatives at this year’s National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Convention. This pioneering

journal has garnered attention with an endorsement from Dr. Kari Jordan, Executive Director of The Carpentries, who

reflected on the value such a resource would have added to her own student days.

Dr. Jordan stated, "Our academic and professional paths in engineering are often fraught with relentless pressure and

challenges. As I reflect on my own journey, I sincerely wish I had a resource like the 'Mindfulness Journal for Engineering

Students' during my student years. Its presence at the NSBE Convention marks a significant milestone for empowering

the next generation of engineers with the tools for self-awareness and resilience that I could have greatly benefited

from."

This journal from Hughes Creatives, masterminded by Darius J. Hughes of Orlando, FL, is tailored with features to guide

students through their academic and personal growth:

-30 Thought-Provoking Exercises: Designed to challenge and expand the student’s perspective and foster deep

introspection.

- Daily Affirmations and Takeaways: Offering positivity and practical steps for everyday application, starting and

ending the day with intent and reflection.

-Weekly Reviews: A feature for students to track their journey, celebrate their wins, and refine their objectives.

-Consistency Over Perfection: This principle encourages habitual practice and personal development, emphasizing

progress over the pursuit of perfection.

"We are excited to bring this valuable tool to the NSBE Convention, connecting directly with those who will benefit the

most from its use," says Darius J. Hughes. "It's our hope that this journal becomes a cornerstone for developing a

resilient and mindful approach to the challenges of engineering education."

The "Mindfulness Journal for Engineering Students" is now available following its NSBE Convention premiere. It can be found on the Hughes Creatives website and through select distributors. Convention attendees are invited to visit the

Hughes Creatives booth to explore how the journal can positively impact their routine and aid in their professional

development.

YOUTH ON THE LIVING EDGE

SUMMER RETREAT 2021

To our loving community,

I am excited to share a remarkable opportunity with you that has arisen this summer. We have selected a group of exceptional students to participate in a highly esteemed youth retreat organized by Youth on the Living Edge, dedicated to empowering young individuals.

The primary objective of this retreat is to nurture our students' spiritual journeys and foster meaningful connections with fellow believers. As advocates for education and personal growth, we firmly believe in investing in opportunities that have the potential to transform lives. By supporting our students' participation in this retreat, you will contribute to their development of crucial interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, and overall character refinement.

We cannot overlook the challenges that the past year has presented, as we all faced the unanticipated hurdles of the pandemic. Sadly, last year's summer events had to be canceled for safety reasons. However, we are deeply grateful that this year's retreat is scheduled to proceed, albeit with limited availability. It is a privilege for our students to have secured coveted places among the select few approved participants.

Given the circumstances, we kindly reach out to you, a champion of education and the betterment of young individuals, seeking your support in making this opportunity a reality. While our traditional fundraising initiatives for summer events typically begin in January, the circumstances of recent events have significantly shortened our fundraising timeline. Thus, we humbly request your assistance in raising the necessary funds to ensure our students can seize this invaluable opportunity.

To cover the expenses associated with this trip, we require a total contribution of $250 per student. While we suggest a donation of $25, please know that every single contribution, regardless of its amount, makes a meaningful difference.

To make the donation process simple and secure, we have established an online platform. By following the link and instructions below, you can rest assured that your financial contribution will directly support this meaningful cause.

Your support in raising funds for this retreat will not only impact our students' personal and intellectual growth but will also contribute to the advancement of our comprehensive youth development programs. As future leaders, these students greatly benefit from the guidance, mentorship, and inspiration that experiences like this retreat provide.

We genuinely appreciate your consideration and willingness to support our cause. Should you have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. Together, let us rally behind these deserving students, investing in their future and empowering them to reach their full potential.

Thank You in Advance,
